Hello, my name is Jack. Welcome to my blog.
I write about finance, economics, politics, and more.
About Me
I’m based in Southern California, but I grew up on the East Coast. I developed a deep passion for finance shortly after I graduated from college and had money to invest for the first time. Overwhelmed by my options, I began learning everything I could and devoured financial content nonstop.
Ending up as an economics and social science teacher, I found myself constantly yearning to go beyond what I could teach in the classroom, and beyond what state standards limited me to. This leads me to writing, where I can share my ideas with the world. I’ve been publishing financial and investment content since 2023, and am excited to start Jack the Investor in 2024.
I have been investing since 2014, very seriously since 2018, when I picked up derivate trading. Now, options make up a small percentage of my portfolio, but have an outsized impact on my returns as an investor.
Today, I operate Bowman Capital Management, a financial advisory firm operating under the Zero Day Capital umbrella, an SEC registered, fee-based RIA. I serve clients across the United States working toward financial freedom and stability.
My formal education is in social sciences; I have a Bachelor’s in History, focusing on Public History, and a Master’s in Education, focusing on Pedagogy.
When I’m not working or blogging, I write for the financial publication Seeking Alpha, travel with my lovely wife Dynasty, and pursues the goal of learning something new every day.
I hope that my writing inspires people to take control of their investments and dig deeper into the possibilities of this brave new world of modern ETFs, funds, and investing strategy.
Where does a Single Premium Immediate Annuity (“SPIA”) fit in a retiree’s portfolio? I have found that these products are widely misunderstood and underutilized, as they can fit well in a retiree’s portfolio when applied suitably.
